The Crown Hotel
is centrally situated in one of the most picturesque
villages in South-West Scotland, and only a few yards
from the waters edge. The hotel looks out over the harbour
entrance, and on a clear day you can see ireland which
is only 19 miles across the irish channel. Stranraer
is only seven miles away and there are several ferry
crossings that take you to Northern Ireland from
here.
At the Crown Hotel we pride
ourselves on our long-standing reputation for good food
and wine. We are renowned for our seafood dishes, which
we try to source locally as much as we can.
We offer accommodation of twelve
en-suite rooms (many with sea-views). We can offer bed
and breakfast or short break packages including dinner,
bed and breakfast.
Whether its a weekend break
or a mid-week special we are sure you will enjoy the
comfortable rooms and the attentive service not to mention
the hearty full scottish breakfast.
We have a large conservatory
restaurant and a welcoming lounge bar that offers an
extensive food menu.
The Seafish Industry Authority promotes the use of
fish and seafood in AA-recommended pubs and restaurants.
Establishments with more than four fish or seafood
dishes on their daily menu or specials boards are indicated
by the 'Seafish' symbol.
The award of 'Seafood Pub
of the Year' is given to one restaurant in England,
Scotland and Wales and this year we had the honour of
having it awarded to us.
There are lots of things to
do while staying in Portpatrick and the surrounding
Galloway countryside. Whether it’s a quite relaxing
break or perhaps you may enjoy golf, fishing (loch and
sea), shooting (in season), pony trekking or walking
(Portpatrick lies at one end of the southern upland
way).there are also many sites of historic or botanical
interest in the area.
Recently Portpatrick has become
recognised as on of the harbours filmed in the B.B.C.
series “Two Thousand Acres of Sky”. The
Hunted (1952) with Dirk Bogarde and Double Cross (1992)
with Norman Wisdom were also filmed in this village.
